Simple, reliable device for measuring water levels

The wave probe monitor is a simple and reliable device for measuring rapidly changing water levels in physical models. It operates by measuring the current that flows between two stainless steel wires that are immersed in water. This current is converted to an output voltage that is directly proportional to the immersed depth. The wave probe monitors are supplied in cases that can accommodate either four or eight monitors. The case includes the power supply for the modules and is supplied with its own standard plug. The case also has connections for triggering and synchronising the data that is sent back to the PC.

This wave gauge system comprises:

• 8 x wave probe to the selected length, calibration stem and mounting bracket assembly
• 8 x 30m length of wave probe cable
• 8 x wave probe monitor
• 1 x wave probe monitor case to suit the number of channels selected

• The system is also available with 4 channels (see below)

Wave probe monitor module

The wave probe monitor is a simple and reliable device for measuring the rapidly changing wave height in physical models.

The wave probe monitor module is an electronic circuit that uses the process of measuring current to determine the height of the water level. It is located within the wave probe monitor case and connects to the wave probe by a twin core cable.

Twin wire wave probes

Each wave probe is supplied with a calibration stem, calibration pin and mounting bracket as standard.

We are also able to provide stands which support the probes when used in 3D basins.

Available options: 300 mm, 600 mm, 900mm, 1200mm. Other lengths on request.


If you purchase a wave probe stand, please ensure that its dimensions fit the wave probe you selected.

Twin wire wave probe stands

You may require a wave probe stand to enable the wave probe to be used in a basin.

Available options:
300 mm, 600 mm, other lengths on request.

If you also purchase a wave probe, please ensure that the stand fits the dimensions of the wave probe.

Wave gauge array platform

Designed to carry arrays of 6, 7, 8 or 9 wave gauges for use in directional work analysis.

Options available: platform for 300mm wave gauge or for 600mm wave gauge.

Wave probe cable

This two core cable is used to connect the wave probe monitor to the wave probe. It can be supplied in any length to suit your requirements. It is terminated with connections to suit the wave probe monitor and wave probe.

The price shown is for 30m length.

USB analogue to digital output

This additional item converts the analogue signal from the wave probe monitor, to a digital output. It fits within the wave probe monitor case and enables a direct connection from the wave probe monitor to any PC using a USB cable.
